In this study, the extraction of peptides from sea anemone Stichodactyla haddoni mucus andtheir effects on the gills of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykisswere examined. For this purpose, Specimens of S. haddoni were collected from the intertidal coast from Hormuz Island. Frozen samples were transported to the laboratory. Then the mucus was extracted using of the PBS solvent.Peptides down of 10kDa were separated by amicon® Ultra-15 10K millipore filter device. These peptides were injected into the caudal vein of the fish and after inactived, histopathological changes were examined using of the classical histological and immunohistochemical method and also plasma osmolarity and ions were examined in this fish. The various tissue damages of the gill were observed including hypertrophy, lamella deformation, subepithelial edema, lamella congestion in the interlamellar region and necrosis. The injection of these peptides also reduced blood plasma ions and osmolarity. The results showed that the extracted peptides from sea anemone mucus can cause numerous anomalies in the gill tissue, change in blood plasma ions and osmolarity of rainbow trout and finally resulted in failure of physiological osmoregulation function of the gills and finally led to the fish death.

Lysozyme is a key molecule in innate immune system and plays a vital role in the immune systems of many species against bacterial species with hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds between N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylmuramicacid of the peptidoglycan layer in the bacterial cell wall and infectional microorganisms. The highest activity of the enzyme in marine species has reported in kidney and spleen. In the present study, lysozyme was extracted from adrenal gland of Caspian Sea Rutilus frisii kutum; then, partially purified by ammonium sulfate and properties such as pH and optimum temperature as well as salt and denaturant concentrations on enzyme activity was evaluated. The enzyme activity was assayed using a suspension of Micrococcus lysodeikticus as substrate. Based on the results, the optimum pH and temperature was found 6 and 45ºC, respectively. Furthermore, lysozyme activity is dependent on salt concentration.

Histological changes important for evaluating the effects of materials and chemical contaminants on organisms. This study revealed the histopathological changes in muscle of the goldfish in exposure to Butachlor. For this purpose adult fish were prepared from Aquaculture Center. The samples were distributed randomly in 4 glass aquaria (70 L) with stocking density of 6 fish for each. The aquaria were exposed to the Butachlor with 0.1, 0.14, 0.28 mL/L and the control (without pollutant) for two weeks. At end of the expose period, muscle below the dorsal fin were removed and fixed by Bouin’s solution, processed, embedded in paraffin and sectioned at 6µ thickness and then stained by Hematoxylin-Eosin method. Based on the histological study, changes in striation, nuclear changes, cloudy swelling, hyaline degeneration, granular degeneration and necrosis were observed. Most damage was observed at 0.28 mL/L.

In the present study, antifungal activity of Plakobranchus ocellatus collected from the southern waters of Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf against Candida albicans. C. parapsilosis and C. glabrata, has been investigated. Acetonitrile, ethanol and phosphated buffer saline (PBS) as organic and aqueous extracts were prepared from the whole body tissue. The effects of seven concentrations of the extracts were tested through well-diffusion method. Maximum and minimum inhibition zones were estimated for acetonitrile and PBS extracts both in 2000 concentration (µg/ml) against C. parapsilosis and C. albicans, respectively. The most effects of extracted compounds were seen in 600, 900, 2000 and 3000 (µg/ml) concentrations. The aqaous extract compared with organic extract had a low effect that can be indicating a little amount of antifungal compounds with nature of protein and temperature-sensitive. In conclusion, it could be said to obtain the bioactive compounds in extracts with more inhibition diameter purification and extraction of secondary metabolites is necessary.

In present study biometry investigation and inbreeding situation of hawksbill turtle in Naiband protected area during 2013-2014 investigated. During the study, 26 turtles biometry and tagged. The results showed that the mean weight was 40.7±4.2 Kg, CCL was 72.757±4.7 cm and CCW was 66.303±2.6 cm, mean of total number eggs was 91.043±10.8, the mean of normal eggs was 76±8.3, the mean of abnormal eggs was 11.65±8.2, the mean of egg diameter was 35.5±1.1 mm and the mean of egg weight was 30.8±1.7 g. By comparing biological factors in Naiband area with other laying areas in all over the world showed that the hawksbill turtle in the study area are smaller and lighter than others in the world. But diameter and weight of eggs are different with others in the world. The mean of total number eggs in study area was more than other coastal in Persian Gulf but less than global mean.

In order to identify the visual characteristics of pelagic fish eye and their eye relationship with feeding and living environment, Alosa braschnikowi in the west part of north of Caspian Sea was investigated. The eye of male fishes with the average weight of 338±10g were prepared for histological and SEM studies. Three types of light receiving cells including rod, short single cone and twin cone were identified. Tangential retinal sections showed that the diameter of cone cells decreased from periphery to the center. The density of twin cone cells from the ventro-temporal quadrant to dorso-temporal quadrant decreased clockwise orderly and the average of cells' diameter increased in the mentioned sections of retina. The arrangement of cells in dorsal quadrants and in the periphery ventral quadrants followed row mosaic pattern whereas in the central parts of ventral quadrants they were arranged in square mosaic pattern. According to the previous studies, the presence of the square pattern assisted visual acuity, identifying the polarized light and hunting skills. Thus Alosa braschnikowi possess remarkable sight to the up, front and rear orientations. Moreover dorsal quadrants would increase the light sensitivity of fish eye in low light illumination of deeper waters.
