The purpose of the present study is comprehension of the histological structure of the mantle edge and comparison of this tissue in a pearl oyster, <em>Pinctada radiata</em> and an edible oyster, <em>Saccostrea cucullata</em>. This study is the first research regarding the comparative histology of mantle edge in pearl-producing and non pearl-producing bivalves of the Persian Gulf. The anterior, posterior and ventral segments of each valve’s mantle edge were removed and the samples were stained with Harris hematoxylin and eosin method. The results showed that the mantle edge in each species has three folds with different and specific shapes. The cells of two species’ mantle edges such as mucus cells, brown granules, hemocyte and muscle fibers were similar to each other, but their distribution in each fold was different. It concludes that there are various color and morphological structure in the mantle edge of each species. بافت روپوش دوکفه­ای­ها در شکل­گیری پوسته و مروارید نقش دارد. مطالعه حاضر به بررسی و مقایسه ساختار بافتی لبه روپوش در بین گونه­های مرواریدساز <em>Pinctada radiata</em> و خوراکی <em>Saccostrea cucullata</em> پرداخته است. این مطالعه، اولین پژوهش در زمینه مقایسه بافتی روپوش در بین دوکفه­ای­های مرواریدساز و غیرمرواریدساز خلیج فارس است. برای مطالعه لبه روپوش، قسمت قدامی، خلفی و مرکز لبه روپوش هر کفه جدا شد و مقاطع بافتی تهیه شده از آن با روش هماتوکسیلین- ائوزین هریس رنگ­آمیزی شد. نتایج نشان داد که لبه روپوش در هر دو گونه، از سه چین تشکیل شده است که هر یک از سه چین دارای شکل خاص و متفاوتی است. سلول­های موجود در گونه مرواریدساز که شامل سلول­های موکوسی، گرانول­های قهوه­ای، هموسیت و تارهای ماهیچه­ای بود با گونه غیرمرواریدساز شباهت داشت اما از لحاظ نوع پراکنش در سطح چین­ها با یکدیگر متفاوت بود. بر اساس این مطالعه می­توان نتیجه گرفت که روپوش در بین گونه­های مختلف دارای رنگ و ساختار ریخت­شناسی متنوعی است. https://japb.guilan.ac.ir/article_2328_da4a78f7d416ac1c918afe524a76430b.pdf
