One of the most important ecosystems of Persian Gulf which is severely affected by pollution is Mussa creek. The goal of this study was using gill pathological alterations to investigate effects of contaminants on Euryglossa orientalis in Musa creek. A number of 100 Euryglossa orientalis were collected from five sampling sites in Mussa creek including: Petrochemical, Gaafari, Magidieh, Ghazaleh and Zangi and gill samples were studied based on the routine histological methods. The most pathological changes observed in the fish gill were hypertrophy and hyperplasia of the lamellar epithelial cells, tlangictasia and congestion in blood vessels, oedema, lamellar fusion, lamellar disorganization and epithelial lifting. Degree of tissue changes of gill in E. orientalis in stations followed the pattern of Petrochemical≥ Magidieh> Ghazaleh> Gaafari> Zangi. The results showed that the gill pathological alternations in E. orientalis have direct relation with the amount of pollution in different stations of Mussa creek.
