Abstract

Labeo (Labeo rohita) is one of the main species of Indian carp that was introduced to the country in order to diversify the species. In order to increase the population, the propagation of the Rohu species was carried out. In this study, 20 female spawners with an average weight and total length of 3183.33±76.01 grams and 568.33±1.05 mm were examined. The appropriate temperature was recorded as 29-29.5 degrees Celsius. The synthetic spawning-inducing hormone Ovaprim was used to stimulate spawning in the spawners. The injection was done intramuscularly and in one stage. The injection amount in female spawners was 0.5 ml/kg of fish weight. The injection was intramuscularly (I.M.) and in one stage. The injection of male spawners was done 2 hours after the injection of the female at a dose of 0.2 ml/kg.

90 percent of the spawners reached to spawning stage. The latent period lasted 7.2±0.07 hours.Rohu had non-adhesive eggs. The number of eggs per gram and number of eggs per milliliter were 1285.25±32.32 and 1223.33±21.43, respectively. The average number of eggs collected from the broodstock was recorded as 560.43±64.43 grams. The size of collected eggs, fertilized eggs and hatched eggs was 1078.8±27.74, 1599.13±42.57 and 3343.32±56.23 micron, respectively. The average fertilization percentage was calculated as 85.3±3.32, hatching percentage was 75.2±2.75 and larval survival percentage was 67.33±2.55. The time of larval emergence from the eggs was calculated after 17 hours and 30 minutes. The size of the newly hatched larvae was 4.8±0.03 mm. The results obtained from this study can be used in breeding centers for mass production.
